Since 1998 every year the world’s best paraglider and hangglider pilots meet in Villeneuve (Switzerland) to show their skills over the lake Geneva for thousands of spectators.

In 2006 RedBull Vertigo will be officially the 1st FAI World Aerobatics Championships from 16th to 27th august.
As the part of the great Extremesportsweko event, this competition started in 2002 and since then, it’s held every year at the breathtaking land of western Norway, in the small town of Voss.
Acroaria is maybe the most beautiful location of the World Aerobatics Tour. Since 2001, the best acro pilots of the world get togather to present their best performance in Omegna, over the beautiful Orta lake.
Acrolac (also a staion of the World Aerobatics Tour) started in 2002 and till 2004, and it took place at Lac d'Aiguebelette, close to Chambéry (France).
By the end of October when the European season ends the pilots move to
the south for the last event of the World Aerobatics Tour in northeast
Argentina, 65km from the city of Salta.
Acroandes was organized in 2004 first and the first edition already
scored to for the WAT. It is not only an acro competition with two
categories, but a festival with exhibitions and courses.
This competition takes place in Slovenia, at the beautiful lake of Bohinj, since 2001. Till 2003 it was also also a station of the World Aerobatics Tour.
Depends on the weather conditions the pilots can take-off from the Vogar and the Vogel mountains.
Unfortunately, in 2004 the competition was cancelled, but in 2005 the contest was held again.
Update: Due to the low interest, it was cancelled again in 2007...
This event was organized in 2005 first, as the first acro competition in Austria above Zell am See. Following the example of other successful contests like Vertigo-Voss the pilots jump from a helicopter in the final of the competition. In the first edition of the event 16 competitors took part and 10 of them came from abroad. During the 2 days long race the organizers did a nice job and it is a good reference to make Paranoia an FAI-event in the future (however officially acro flying is still prohibited in the german speaking countries).
Well, actually it is not really an acro competition but mostly acro pilots takes part in. It's the ultimate competition of WAGA flying, the freestyle section of paragliding.
What is it all about? All kind of tricks with ground contact, like amazing helicopter landings, death spirals, advanced ground handling and such a spectacular things.
