1st Winter Outdoor Games - Chamonix

7 teams, 5 sports and 5 days to make a movie! That's the challenge of the Nissan Outdoor Games by Columbia which's first winter edition was held from 10th to 17th of January in Chamonix, France (there were already 3 succesful summer editions in Interlaken, CH). Skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, base jumping, paragliding, and speedriding – these were the sports that had to be included in a 5 minutes long movie and a slideshow with the best 20 pictures by the photographers of each team.

The high standards of the athletes couldn't be represented better that the first five acro pilots of the actual World Ranking were taking part in the event – and it was quite the same with the other sports.

The contest started on Sunday at 6pm and the teams had to finish with the editing till Friday 6pm. Even though the weather was unbelievably great – blue sky, perfect conditions all week long – it was not an easy job to shoot all the images during the shorter winter days. The breathtaking scenario of the Mont Blanc region provided an incredible, unlimited playground for the film makers and photographers – as well as the riders to make their best performance!

On Saturday probably the highest ever Airshow was done where wingsuit BASE jumpers and acro pilots jumped from 3 helicopters at the altitude of the Mont Blanc to impress to public at the terrace of the Aiguille du Midi (3842 m)...

In the evening all the films and photos were showed in the center of Chamonix on giant screen and right after the results were also announced by the jury:

Best film: Ride The Planets team
Best photographer: Tero Repo from the team Radical Films
