AirGames Festival 2006

From wednesday to sunday the 7th International Air Games Festival was held in Türkey, celebrating the last days of the season in Ölüdeniz. A week before it was raining very strong, but during the festival luckily the weather was sunny and hot every day, but up to the Babadag mountain it was already necessery to take some warm clothes and flying suit.

Not a lot of pilots arrived to participate in the acro competition (Felix Rodriguez, Horacio Llorens, Seiko Fukuoka, Michael Knipping, Mendo Veljanovski, Gabor Kezi, Pal Takats, Mahoni, Sander Koyfman), but we had a great fun to fly together probably for the last time this year.
Unfortunately Michael Nesler who was invited to be the head judge in the acro competition couldn't come, so it was more like a relaxing show, not a serious contest. Because of this at the end we decided to split all the prize money between the 9 pilots.

The official result:
1. Horacio Llorens
2. Felix Rodriguez
3. Pal Takats

There was also Mike Küng, Thomas Lednik, Mike Steen, Marius Duta and many others performing acro and base jumping show every day.

Just a day after the AirGames finished almost all the hotels, restaurants and shops closed and Ölüdeniz started to turn to be a ghost Village for the next several months. The impression of the end of the season just got stronger by huge thunderstorms and some small tornados coming down from the cloudbase and sucking up the water from the sea...

Goodbye Babadag, see you next year!

Did anyone film the acro routines? Will you be posting them online?

Well done Pál.

Makes you proud to be a paraglider pilot! Few sports show this kind of spirit these days.
