The weather was excellent for the Acro Paragliding World Cup competition and the small Dachstein village of Obertraun became a mecca for the world's finest Acro Pilots.
Altogether 40 competitors from 12 different nations took off from the Krippenstein mountain to perform three competitive flights for Solo and Synchro paragliding. The standard of competition was higher than ever before. Thanks to the excellent weather, all of the <ä href="http://acrojam.at/" target="_blank">AcroJam events were able to take place according to the schedule.
Brazilian Goberner loses his title to a German competitor!
The Brazilian Rafael Goberner could not defend his title from the previous year, as the competition was fierce! The Solo competition was won by Marvin Ogger from Germany with an outstanding performance. The 24-year-old and fought a very close and exciting duel with the highly successful Spaniard Horacio Llorens. At the end of the day Llorens came second in Obertraun. Third place at the AcroJam 2013 went to Francois Ragolski of France.
Due to some misscommunication of the rules during the briefings, the overall APWC title first has been awarded to Marvin Ogger, but when the points have been recalculated the winner of the 2013 Aerobatic Paragliding Word Cup (APWC) title has been awarded in duel to Horacio Llorens and Marvin Ogger! Swiss team wins the Synchro!
Winners of the Synchro competition were the Swiss duo Adrian Hachen and Michael Maurer from the "Spältli Acro Team". Michael Maurer's brother has already won the Red Bull X-Alps 3 times! The French pilots from "Alongi Team" Tim Alonge and Francois Ragolski came second. Also on the podium in third place were the Spanish cousins Horacio Llorens and Felix Rodriguez, also known as the team "SAT Team".
It was no easy task for the international judges from the Federation Aeronautik International (FAI) as there were many magnificent pilots and first class manoeuvres. The Acrojam was also a fantastic experience for the crowds on the banks of Lake Hallstatt, who were amazed by the astonishing aerobatics and pin-point landings on the lake platoon. Some of the pilots did not quite make the landing on the floating platoon and instead received a refreshing surprise!
Over 40 volunteers and emergency services, such as Obertraun's mountain rescue team, the Hallstatt and Bad Goisern water rescue as well as the Bad Goisern Red Cross teams were on standby throughout the day's entertainment. "A very big thank you to all volunteers and sponsors as without their help the event would not have been possible," commented organiser and Acrojam mastermind Florian Höll.
The Acrojam 2013 concluded after the presentation ceremony with a very enjoyable party for competitors and spectators alike.
