NIKITA: New acro glider from Icaro

End of last year our acro team wished to get an extreme dynamic but nevertheless controllable glider made especially for acro. And of course - they didn't want to abstain from performance of the CIDAN - the glider they used successfully for acro till today. So the first prototypes of NIKITA were designed all-out for pure performance and dynamic. We improved them step by step in systematic team work to make them controllable. The result is an extreme dynamic acro glider which remains manageable for good acro pilots also in extreme flight situations.

Exporing the limits of possible dynamic brought us many valuable cognitions also improving ICARO DHV gliders. For example NIKITA shows us that glide ratio, climbing and stability of extreme small-sized canopied can be raised to the level of DHV gliders - and this in combination with a trim velocity over 45 km/h.

Innovative details of the brand-new NIKITA are for example:

- special designed line and canopy geometry, which create extreme high tension between the belts of the riser therefore diminish the danger of twist to almost zero,
- the curve of the canopy and a special trim reduce steering forces in the SAT and related manoeuvres. This protects the pilot against injuries. Even during a rhythmic SAT the NIKITA can be pilotes with little effort very sensitively,
- diagonal tapes and line loops are arranged in a way that also when it happens that the middle lines break (the most heavily loaded parts) - an emergency landing remains possible.

Bernd, Xandi: it would be nice to read your reviews about this wing! :-)
