Sad, but true: a few days ago an official statement was released by the organization of the World Championship in Voss:

Oslo, February 26, 2008.
The working committee for the 2nd World Aerobatic Hang gliding and Paragliding Championship had a meeting yesterday on February the 25th.
After rearranging the committee in December and working very hard to try to get everything ready for the event, we had to face the facts yesterday and make a decision.
Due to economical reasons (lack of sponsors), Voss Hang and Paragliding club and the Norwegian Air sport Federation will not be able to arrange the World Championship schedules for August the 22nd to 31st.
We have got no sponsors! So far the only economic support we have got is from local authorities and local companies and they only covers about 15% of our budget. (This is the same situation as we had 40 days ago!) After all contact with possible sponsors we have had we see no chance today to get a sponsor willing to put their money into the arrangement.
We are very sorry to make this decision but we hope that when we took it now it might be time to get another country willing and able to arrange the 2008 FAI World Aerobatic Championship.

Ofcourse, it's one of the most important events for all of the pilots, but now it is like it is :(
Maybe there will be another organizer jumping in in the last moment.
But I guess the only organization that's big AND experienced enough would be Vertigo's organization...

I am one plane for sumer in August, want organice one weekend in Black see ACRO competition, jump form Elicopter only. But for the moment is only plan.
Anyway this event will be announcement in time.
I hope to catch some sponsor for this Event. ;)

And just as there are more and more pilots willing to train hard and spend all they can earn on performing aerobatics.
I just guess the word is turning grey, no more enthusiasm for flying performance.
No sponsors. no public. Hell... :(:(:(

Till last year, Vertigo Voss acro competition was part of the Extremesportsweek, which was one of the biggest events in its class with big sponsors and organization. But now the World Championship would be held in august, as an individual event. It's tragical that no sponsors see fantasy in our sport to put their money in an acro WC (in Norway, where IS some money...). But in many ways they're right: just a few dozens of spectators and poor media coverage/interest...Sad, but true, and I think the whole pg community needs to work on this for a brighter future of our sport. Paragliding acro into the Olimpic games!!!
So what's now? 2nd WC in 2010, god knows where...!?
