brake system

hi,

thinking what brake system is the best and more!
elastic band and free brakes or locked with pully!? seen some acro pilots put the pullys higher up on the risers and have like 15 cm line to the pullys, so what is positiv and negativ with different brake systems!!!??
Im new in the acro world and want to fix a nice system on my glider:)

so "locked" VS "free" brakes with elastic band!!

You have to change and test different configurations to find out what setting fits your style the most. I think this is really depending on the pilot how he/she likes to fly or how he/she has better feeling of the glider. Personally I fly without pulleys, but I know many pilots who'd never give up their original pulley system.
For sure the first thing you should try to replace the pulley higher, fix it to the small mailon carabiner of the D riser (some pilots fix it to the B, that has more tension, but I think it doesn't really matter) with a longer distance between the pulley and the riser. Like that you can shorten the brake and it will be more confortable to fly acro maneuvers (maybe no need to take extra wraps, etc.).
Good luck! :-)
