Supair Acro 4 vs. Charly Quick-out

Hello acro fellows,

I'm looking for an advice regarding the use of Charly Quick-out carabiner with a Supair Acro 4. One of my rescues is a Rogallo and I'm sure that being able to disconnect the wing under a rescue is a good idea.

The problem is that the max width of the charly quick-out is 34mm and the Acro 4 attach is clearly wider. I've asked to Supair if it is ok to "tamp" the attach in the 34mm carabiner, but their answer was logically "no". I know that a lot of Acro 4 users do that, but I would like to know your opinions. risky? not risky? Or do you know another quick-out compatible carabiner?

Thanks!

Alain

Ah, thanks! No, no "only" that the lines of the speedbar can trigger the system IF it's not locked. So they came up with an idea to prevent the lines from wrapping around the button. And they added another thing to prevent it from being installed incorrectly.

Yes, there have been accidents... But apparently all of them because of misuse, not locked or not installed correctly.

By the way, while reading about it, I found out that they recommend the Paralock3 for harnesses up to 45mm buckle. We would just have to fold the buckle. "The Paralock is suitable for all straps, as long as they fit into the harness strap chamber below
the securing pin. 45 mm wide straps are folded over to reduce their width."

Oh really, what are the security issues ?!

There are some others apart from the fact that they would open very easily if we forget to lock them?

Thanks for your answer!
(I might consider using something else then..)

Thanks guys for your answers. For me, the paralocks have too many disadvantages to be used in acro (not wider than quick-out, too many risk of unwanted opening, and also some known security issues). For know, I will keep my standard carabiners and maybe switch to a cutaway harness in few times. Thanks!

About the Paralocks (this may be a bit off topic, but if it ever helps..), I had to install them instead of the Quick-Outs on my Evolite harness. The Quick-Outs are too big for its attachment points.. inverse problem.
Anyway, just to say that they work well, so far. Never used them in a real situation though.

Just be 200% sure that the pins lock the system, otherwise the problem Sigi describes will quickly occur, in all likelihood...even just during thermalling

(There are two versions of the paralocks, the first was thought with an additional cap on top of the trigger, the second uses a pin instead.)

Hellu :) so for acro I would only use the charly quick outs (with inserts to attach to the glider) and not the newer Paralocks! For example if you beginn to fly stalls youre always with your hands near your carabiner and a bit moving up and down. So if you use quick-out carabiners like the Paralock with only one safety part to unlock your carabiner it is fairly easy to gain in big trouble really fast and as far i know they are not mirrored so left side opens 180° compared to right side and in emergency sitations it could lead to trouble disconnecting the glider when time is an important factor. And always double check your safety clips before starting is your life insurance :) So im not 100% sure but talk to some guys using the charly quick out with an supair acro 4. I had them on my AVA Sport Acro T and you also have to really squeeze them in. If no part of the webbings is moving over an edge or sharp part should be no problem in my opinion. But I also used an charly quick out on an Acro4 the 2 weeks I flied this harness before moving back to my AVA Acro and dont thought it can be a problem :)
Greetings
Sigi
