Hi Cravattnix. Thanks for the info. I have just acquired a Dune size medium and I fly it at 94kg and yup, I too have had some frontals. I do like the way it turns, will have to get some more air time on it to get a true understanding of its character. Cheers.
It passed AFNOR performance (which also was the first flight for the DHV certification) but failed the second DHV flight (Mike Küng did it, I think with a little overweight). I also spoke to another DHV test pilot, he shared mikes opinion.
I fly an Dune of size S at the upper weight limit, and would admit it doesn't deserve a certification. It easily has front collapses and almost forms a shrimp when pushing the accelerator to its end. (yes, I did check the linelengths ..)
There have been some communication problems between the DHV and Aerodyne during the certification process (which lead to some conspiracy theories), I think Aerodyne stopped to do certifications with the DHV since then.
Nevertheless it's a wonderful glider, very dynamic and very nice for soaring. It's rather demanding in thermal air, but still my great love :-)
As the pros showed (including Pal and Gabor) one can do nearly everything with this glider.
Great vid. I heard there was some issue with the certification of the Dune. Does anyoneone know what that was? Something to do with it failing a DHV test I think.
