Chiron, what is your total weight in flight? including yourself, harness, reserve, and wing?

chiron's picture

In acro, the wing is as resistant as an other acro wing, :p
In thermal flying, in my opinion, the wing is very resistant, but when it collapsing, it's very big parts of the wing....
When I collapse, it was often in strong thermals, or in very bad conditions, it's often frontal collapse, it's very noisy, but the wing inflate quickly.
It's hard to detect an eventual collapse, but maybe with a lot of thermal flying, I can be able to detect it ...
the season has just begun ;)

Hey chiron awesome! both pilot and FG.

How much collapse resistant is this wing?

regards!

when it's strong, no problems, you just pull on the brake and go up :)
But, when it's smooth, I put the D risers on the quick carabiners and I pilot like this .
If you already stall your glider , you know how to pull on the D risers,
but brake whith "D" is harder than normal brake, so you naturaly don't pull very hard ....
You must try it in real situation !

Fly safe ;)

Yeah, i spoke with Niviuk. They said that size 20 is perfect for my weight...i suppose i just need to improve my skills to thermal better.

Hey Chiron, you say you thermal with D-risers. Can you explain why and how you do it? Is it not dangerous to stall the wing?

Safe landings,
Chavo

For me, I want a wing for flying thermals and flying acro, so I bought the FG 22.
I am around 96 Kg now, In thermals, it's great, I can turn very easy, in strong or little conditions, with the D risers . I fly in competition with it, and it's very good :p
In acro, it's just amaizing , It's a little bike :-)
Sometimes I fly with an old Supersonic 17 , and the difference is not so big ^^ ,
For learn acro, the Free Gravity is just fabulous, I improve a lot with it since this winter :)

Hi Chivo,
for the weight indication it's normal. The prediction evolve since the creation of the wing (2007) and the first production (june 2008).
For thermals, I don't have any problems to gain height when the condition are well "installed" but when there is little thermals it's quite hard to wrapped around cause of the glider size.

Good fly and sorry for my BAD english :(

Hi to all,

I finally have my new F-Gravity 20. Arrived just before the weekend. I really like the wing! Makes great WO. Tried a few spirals and it is soooo fast. There is a funny thing. Size 20 in the manual and web site of Niviuk is supposed to be 70/90kg all up. The info on the center cell of the glider says 50/70 though...Anyone has the same?

And i noticed one difficulty so far...its so fast i have a lot of trouble thermalling to gain height...how do you manage that?

Other than that feels great to fly this wing...looking forward to the next flying day!

Safe landings,
Chavo

nice one a,... by the way,.. whats the name of the song please? cheers

chiron's picture

It's not me under the rescue, it's a friend who have the same wing ^^,
just on a full stall, the wing shoot very hard, and he take twist with a big collapse ....

the FG is a dynamic wing, be carefull to twist in heli and shoot after stall, , its just a little bit less dynamic than a acro wing, so be carefull for all of your manoeuvers ....

this wing is very good for Mc twist, a lot of speed, and it's not to hard on the break :)

fly safe, no fear, juste fun ;)

Thanx for the answer Chiron!
I ordered the FG 20. My weight is 70. All up is around 90. so i decided on the small size. I also fly since March 2008. Maybe we will fly the Rastas together sometime :)

Safe landings!

i saw your video with reserve . what was the situation for the reserve? can you upload the bad maneuvre...on teh video i can only see you already with reserve open. what happened?

and...any advice for something i must be careful with the FG? any bad tricks it can make me?

ciao from Bulgaria,
Chavo
